Established in 2019 as a discreet Showroom-Gallery, Hammond Galleries has built a reputation of only presenting the most incredible and unique selection of artwork from around the world. We represent only the finest world class artists, ensuring that you will not find a more impressive collection of unique artwork in the UK. We are also home to the largest collection of micro art in the country, with work from the three greatest micro artists in the world. Pieces include  a microscopic painting of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers only 0.5 mm in size, a microscopic sculpture of a bengal tiger that fits comfortably inside the eye of a needle and microscopic engraving of The Lord’s Prayer on a speck of gold only 2mm across.

 

The gallery has recently relocated to the beautiful market town of Shifnal, Shropshire. Only 10 minutes from Telford and 20 minutes from Shrewsbury it is ideally situated off the M54  and only 40 minutes from Birmingham. For clients travelling from further afield, the gallery is located 1 minutes walk from Shifnal train station with regular trains to and from London.

 

The gallery is open on Tuesday – Saturday 10am until 4pm and by appointment on Sunday and Monday. We look forward to welcoming you.

Portraiture is my passion. There is nothing so gratifying to me as watching a face emerge from the canvas; I love to watch the composition grow and come to life. From an early age I have taken inspiration and guidance from the works of the old masters. The tranquillity and detail of Vermeer and the Pre-Raphaelites has been a constant influence in the development of my craft, whilst the dark drama of Caravaggio was the primary inspiration for my collection of paintings exploring themes from Shakespeare and the broader theatre. I strive to capture the essence of my subjects and use handmade paints to bring light and lustre to my work.

 

Ballet has drawn me in with its flow and grace, expression and movement.
I enjoy experimenting with different themes in my work; more recently I have expanded my practice into mixed media; experimental work commissioned for E.L. Heath’s recent album, Tŷ. This included traditional portraiture in oils alongside illustration in pen and graphite pencil onto wood, along with further work creating characters for a stop-motion music video.

I am an enamel artist working with vitreous enamel which is powdered glass that has been applied to metal then fired in a kiln. Due to the nature of the process there will be variations in the pieces, resulting in unique work that are textural, colourful and tactile.

 

I started my journey as a jeweller producing textured and dimensional pieces on copper and silver, then started to use enamel for added colour. Enamelling took over as a passion and now I produce gifts ranging from jewellery through to small bowls, dishes and pictures.

 

Each piece is lovingly crafted in my workshop in the Worcestershire countryside, everyone is unique due to the nature of fusing powdered glass on to copper and firing at high temperatures, a mini adventure in each firing!!
