Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire

An elegant carriage from 1959, The PUD is one of 56 or so remaining from the 902 made by Armstrong Siddeley Motors at Parkside, Coventry.

 

Finished in two tone black over cream this impressive car has a sumptuous red leather interior with matching carpets and walnut veneers. Totally original.

 

The car is wonderfully comfortable and offers a chance to enjoy what the rich and successful drove in the early 1960’s. The car won interior of the year at the Earls Court motor show.

 

The rear seats have a generous amount of room and an armrest. In times gone by, small children used this as their own special seat.

 

The Star Sapphire was the last model made by Armstrong Siddeley in their 41 years, they ceased production a mere 262 cars after PUD. Being true to the time there are no seat belts or air-conditioning. These weren’t even an option.

 

This is a1960’s gentlemans carriage. Seats five in comfort, four in luxury. Interior is original red leather in good condition. Seats are very comfortable. A big imposing vehicle which is very original.

 

Powered by a 3990cc straight six petrol engine of Armstrong’s own design it has an automatic gearbox, servo assisted brakes and power steering.

A head turner if every there was one. Not perfect but who is? A slice of history.
