Jacob Gourley

'Jacob Gourley is a representational oil painter whose appreciation of traditional art has been the driving force in shaping his artistic career and honing his craft. In 2017 he graduated with a 1st class Ba hons in fine art from the University of Gloucestershire, during which he was awarded a scholarship to study for a month in Rome. 

Since graduating, Jacob has continued a studio based practice, exploring various themes in his work, carrying out numerous commissions and delivering workshops.'...

At the heart of Jacob’s practice is keen attention to the artwork’s formal qualities, such as shape, tone, edges, colour, and composition. To date, Gourley has exhibited in a number of group and solo shows  and was awarded 1st Prize in the Wirral Society of Arts Open exhibition in 2019 for his painting ‘82 - St John’s to Toxteth’. In 2022, he won first prize in the Belle View Arts Festival for his painting Lotus II and since has acquired gallery representation with the Soden Collection, Shrewsbury. 

 

Currently he is working from his Shropshire home studio and is taking on commissions.

I am now offering live wedding painting, which means I will attend your wedding and begin to paint your Individual wedding painting in whatever pose you desire and then finish off the rest of the artwork at my studio.

I will then deliver it to you if you are local or can post it out to you.

The gallery has recently relocated to the beautiful market town of Shifnal, Shropshire. Only 10 minutes from Telford and 20 minutes from Shrewsbury it is ideally situated off the M54  and only 40 minutes from Birmingham. For clients travelling from further afield, the gallery is located 1 minutes walk from Shifnal train station with regular trains to and from London.

 

The gallery is open on Tuesday – Saturday 10am until 4pm and by appointment on Sunday and Monday. We look forward to welcoming you.

 

 

 Having Hammond Galleries visit my home with a selection of artwork was an absolute joy. I am an enamel artist working with vitreous enamel which is powdered glass that has been applied to metal then fired in a kiln. Due to the nature of the process there will be variations in the pieces, resulting in unique work that are textural, colourful and tactile.

 

I started my journey as a jeweller producing textured and dimensional pieces on copper and silver, then started to use enamel for added colour. Enamelling took over as a passion and now I produce gifts ranging from jewellery through to small bowls, dishes and pictures.

 

Each piece is lovingly crafted in my workshop in the Worcestershire countryside, everyone is unique due to the nature of fusing powdered glass on to copper and firing at high temperatures, a mini adventure in each firing!!

 

I can create a bespoke wedding gift for any of your choice, simply tell me the kind of thing you would like and I will make and design it so it is unique as a gift for any of your guests.
