Getting married is one of the biggest changes in life you can make. And it’s not something you plan on ever doing again! You're marrying for the rest of your life and that’s what makes your wedding such a significant event. You want your wedding or civil partnership ceremony to be as special and individual as you are. My role as a wedding celebrant is to make sure that happens.
As a professional celebrant I can create a unique event which includes whatever religion or spiritual content you require - or none at all. I can work with you to write an individual, bespoke ceremony tailored totally for you to celebrate your relationship and your love.
We can meet as soon as you set the date so that I can get to know you and your desires for the day as well as your beliefs and values. The journey of marriage begins with the planning of your wedding.
There are many beautiful wedding venues from stately homes or grand hotels to simple guest houses and family homes. You can use any venue (whether it has a civil licence or not) for a celebrant-led wedding. You may prefer to hold your wedding out of doors; in private garden, a meadow or woodland. Weddings can be hosted in marquees, yurts and tepees - the perfect solution for a relaxed atmosphere.
Being based in the Nottingham area I am Ideally placed to travel to virtually anywhere in the country, being central midlands based I cover Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire in fact anywhere you may be getting married, please give me a call now for an initial discussion.

Congratulations on your engagement and for making your way to this page; rest assured you are now in very safe hands!
Your wedding should be every bit as unique as you are, which is why I will take the time to get to know you as a couple and get a real feel for what you want on your special day.
The beauty of a Humanist Ceremony is that there are no restrictions, no set format and definitely no prescribed wording. We will work together to create something that is exactly right for you.
A Humanist ceremony is non-religious but can be spiritual and heartfelt and you do not need to be a Humanist yourselves- most of my families are not and may embrace many faiths or none.
What they have in common is a desire to have a service that is special, personal, and meaningful for them.
The ceremony can take place exactly where you would like (inside or out) and at a time of your choosing (in daylight or moonlight). The only limits are our imaginations – so let’s think outside the box together and create something wonderful!
I will help you to plan all aspects of the ceremony including the writing of your vows, helping to choose music and poetry that you can really relate to (I know not everyone shares my love of Leonard Cohen!).
We can include the traditional exchange of rings or the tokens of your choice alongside other meaningful rituals such as handfasting or ring warming- the choice is yours. I only book one ceremony a day so that I can focus entirely on you and ensure that you have your dream wedding.
If this sounds like the celebration you are looking for please get in touch.
Whilst I am celebrant based in Lichfield, Staffordshire my weddings so far have take me further afield – Leicestershire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Cheshire – this means I am happy to travel. I am also delighted to be the resident celebrant at a small and beautiful boutique venue in Lichfield – Deanslade Farm, Lichfield.
Your wedding is one of the most important events in your life and not only do you look for a venue which reflects your personalities, your celebrant should reflect this too – after all, like your venue your celebrant will always be in your wedding pictures and part of you special memory making celebration.
Like your venue and your celebrant it is equally important that your wedding script is personal and also reflects your love for each other, your personalities and include the special people, places and moments in your life. Through a series of questionnaires and consultations I can build you a vision of your special memory making celebration and personalise it to become your perfect moment. Between us we create beautiful surprises.
We always have a run through online, I record your script so that the nerves can run through the practice ensuring you are word and moment perfect on the day. Remember, practice makes you present on the day.
Do visit my website and my LinkedIn page, I welcome a chat anytime and if I can help in anyway with other aspects of planning your wedding just ask – I have many contacts too. Just as you send out a Save The Day card to your guests, it’s just as important to Save The Day quickly with your celebrant for that perfect wedding celebration you deserve.

“ Matt delivered the perfect ceremony at our wedding! It was extremely personal and Matt took time prior to the wedding to meet with us and speak to our best men and bridesmaid. The service was exactly what we had hoped for; it had a balance of humour and sentiment, whilst emphasising the significance of the occasion. Thank you!! ”

Why choose a Celebrant
and not a Registrar from
the Local Authority?
•Your venue may not have a Civil Licence in place, and therefore the registrars cannot attend to perform the service there.
•If the venue does hold a licence then using a Registrar is a viable choice, but be aware of their limitations. They cannot deviate from the given script and there are restrictions on wording, music and content. They are also unable to perform a ceremony in a location 'without a fixed roof', so if you were planning to say your vows in the great outdoors, they cannot do this for you.
•A registrar will simply offer you a choice of pre-set scripts, and fill in the spaces with your names. There is very little contact before the ceremony and they must keep to the scripts without adding any personal details or embellishments. It's all a bit 'cold' really.
•They are booked in using time slots and you may feel rushed. Choosing Simply Ceremonies means that I devote the whole day to you and never book more than one ceremony a day, so my time is yours.
•You won't meet the Registrar who's on duty on the day of your wedding until the day itself unless you pay extra. I will work closely with the couple for months in advance, getting to know you, so that your ceremony is as unique as you are. We will communicate many times via email, phone and face to face, working together to create a bespoke ceremony that's meaningful, personal and individual.
•With Simply Ceremonies you can have your wedding ceremony anywhere you like. Bear in mind that you will need to do the legal bit first, anytime in the 2 weeks before the wedding. Visit the Register Office in casual clothes, with 2 witnesses (sworn to secrecy of course!), and say the Contractual and Declaratory words in order to obtain your licence. This is only to register your marriage legally and is not the ceremony itself. This then allows you have your ceremony in a place of your choosing, and as I will conduct a service that includes your special vows, and the exchange of rings, then it looks like the 'real thing'. In fact, unless you choose to tell them, your guests will be none the wiser.
• Anything goes - within the realms of being legal and decent of course! - I can include religious or spiritual elements along with modern day poetry hymns or music.
